hihihihihihihihihi!

I realized I haven't posted since St Patty's Day. Things in school went fast and furious towards the end. After Spring break I felt like I was running at full speed. And work was nice enough to schedule me four weekends in a row while I was wrapping up my semester. But I survived and I did very decently grade-wise.

Now it's summer! Technically it's my last official summer break. We only have two weeks off between third and forth year. My thoughts? Bring it! So ready for school to be done. In all honesty, next year is supposed to be killer. Just need to survive and pass one more year!!

We've got a few things planned this summer. Today we're going to see U2 at Invesco Field. We're going to Rock of Ages 6/19. I got tickets to the Cardinals vs Rockies next weekend for Brock's birthday. I also got us beer making classes that we need to schedule. And we're going to CA and OR in July. My bro-in-law will be here in July too.

I'm getting involved in diabetes research this summer. I'm still doing things with my frat. And my school friends have been awesome about wanting to actually do stuff this summer. Tomorrow night we're going to Canvas and Cocktails, a place where you paint and drink wine/beer. Yay! Wednesday we're all going out to dinner.

Since I've been out of school (a whole week!) I've been busy cleaning and baking/cooking. I'm hopping back on Weight Watchers officially on Monday to continue my getting to a healthy weight for pregnancy adventure. I fell off the WW bandwagon right after Spring break. I managed to only gain 2lbs back. When I was working out at the beginning of the semester, I was doing so well in school. Need to get back to that point, especially since next year is supposed to be so rough. I found a website via Pinterest called skinnytaste.com. She has some awesome recipes and has calculated points using the old WW point system and the new Points Plus as well. Even if you're not doing WW the recipes look great! I have a hard time keeping things exciting for B.

All right. Off to get cleaned up and prep stuff for tomorrow for work. Long day ahead of us. We're heading to the concert early since the news said parking will sell out in like a minute. Early lunch and dinner at the stadium. $50 hot dogs, anyone??

Happy weekend!

Streamlining and stress management

I ended up canceling my training tomorrow and my participation in a health fair on Friday. I hate backing out of things I commit to, but honestly, I'm spread a wee thin these days and there are other things that must be done that take precedence. I think for my sanity, I just needed to eliminate something to make me feel better and this was the only thing that could really budge.

I've schedule date night/"OMG GET ME OUT OF THE HOUSE!" night with B for Friday. Dinner and a movie. And it sounds perfect. He's really working hard on a project and I'm really focused on school. He has to work all weekend and I have my own agenda for school.

Spring break is in about a week. Did I mention how excited I am?

I moved away from home at the age of nineteen to be close to the boy I loved. We moved back for a few years and then away again. Sometimes I wonder if my first move was too soon. I missed my family terribly. I'm extremely independent and march to the beat of my own drummer, but being so far away was painful. Of course, being broke and not being able to see them when I wanted was hard as well. But I love where I'm at now and hopefully, if things work out when I'm done with school, we can stay here. I find myself incorportating tid bits of my family all around me -- stuff that reminds me of them in very subtle ways. I have a small collection of vintage Pyrex that reminds me of my mom. I even have a Tupperware piece from the 70's that I found on eBay that reminds me of my dad. It's a piece he would marinate meat in and BBQ all the time. Hey, Californians love their BBQ! My Le Crueset tea kettle is in flame orange, the same color of my grandma's original dish that she always uses to cook her infamous pilaf at family dinners. Recently on Pinterest, someone pinned this:

My grandpa used to say this all the time. I think it's very appropriate and I will be acquiring this soon. I find it rather serendipitous that it matches my office nearly perfectly.
