Streamlining and stress management

I ended up canceling my training tomorrow and my participation in a health fair on Friday. I hate backing out of things I commit to, but honestly, I'm spread a wee thin these days and there are other things that must be done that take precedence. I think for my sanity, I just needed to eliminate something to make me feel better and this was the only thing that could really budge.

I've schedule date night/"OMG GET ME OUT OF THE HOUSE!" night with B for Friday. Dinner and a movie. And it sounds perfect. He's really working hard on a project and I'm really focused on school. He has to work all weekend and I have my own agenda for school.

Spring break is in about a week. Did I mention how excited I am?

I moved away from home at the age of nineteen to be close to the boy I loved. We moved back for a few years and then away again. Sometimes I wonder if my first move was too soon. I missed my family terribly. I'm extremely independent and march to the beat of my own drummer, but being so far away was painful. Of course, being broke and not being able to see them when I wanted was hard as well. But I love where I'm at now and hopefully, if things work out when I'm done with school, we can stay here. I find myself incorportating tid bits of my family all around me -- stuff that reminds me of them in very subtle ways. I have a small collection of vintage Pyrex that reminds me of my mom. I even have a Tupperware piece from the 70's that I found on eBay that reminds me of my dad. It's a piece he would marinate meat in and BBQ all the time. Hey, Californians love their BBQ! My Le Crueset tea kettle is in flame orange, the same color of my grandma's original dish that she always uses to cook her infamous pilaf at family dinners. Recently on Pinterest, someone pinned this:

My grandpa used to say this all the time. I think it's very appropriate and I will be acquiring this soon. I find it rather serendipitous that it matches my office nearly perfectly.
